OCTOPUS Backup Server module guarantees data replication and system availability in case of main server failure. We recommend to have at least 2 separate servers (HW) installed in OCTOPUS newsroom. There is always one server which could be defined as a Main server and other one which runs as a Backup server. Both of these servers can be either real or virtual machines.
When both Main and Backup servers are running, all OCTOPUS users connect to the Main server. Data are saved to both Main and Backup database. If the Main server fails, all applications connecting to server, i.e. OCTOPUS client and all agents (MOS, Wires, RSS, etc). will automatically reconnect to the new Main server, previously Backup server. No unsaved scripts or other data is lost.
