 Octopus integrates with iSoft automation
ISOFT company with its automation systems joined the group of Octopus partners. Both systems communicate via MOS protocol. The integrated solution was used at ESGroup in Ukraine. ISOFT is specialised in software engineering, founded to develop new technologies and solutions in various sectors and is specially experienced in broadcasting.

Forming a partnership between Octopus Newsroom and Gee Broadcast Systems, was an endeavour to bring users more option in the field of video severvs, especially Octopus and Geevs video servers that enable customers to maximise their programming capability by running broadcast operations more efficiently and cost-effectively. Both solutions come together in an integrated solution, implementing the industry standard MOS protocol.

A bouquet of Indian channels choose Octopus as their newsroom system
Since Voice of India has a pan-Indian presence with bureaus in multiple locations, the necessity of a newsroom system capable of accessing the bureaus over a WAN Link for creating stories and rundowns was essential. According to Nimish Kapoor, General Manager – IT, VOI TV, Octopus newsroom system, which is a single information window, provides access to news wires, lowres video, along with multichannel sharing of the completed news stories and rundowns.

 Serbian B92, 24/7 is running Octopus Newsroom system
Serbian 24/7 news channel B92 is using the OCTOPUS newsroom system, delivering reliable operation since going online in April. OCTOPUS is B92’s first newsroom system. It can be accessed by reporters, producers and others from any computer in B92’s facility. Easy access to the news department’s rundown from all B92 departments has improved efficiency and workflow. With implementation in February 2008 Octopus gave users enough time to get familiar with the system and workflow used in their operations. They praised Octopus for its stability and performance.

 TVS about to launch with OCTOPUS
A new Polish infotainment channel, TV Silesia, is about to start broadcasting in the first half of March. OCTOPUS Newsroom system was chosen as the solution for TV Silesia’s news shows, serving 50 journalists. OCTOPUS connects with Harris Inscriber via CII interface and Gallery Sienna is used as the playout platform. Sienna, integrated with OCTOPUS via MOS allows journalists to preview lowres videos of the clips before they go on air. Autoscript teleprompter brings live studios to presenters’ desk. Apple Poland has been the system integrator coordinating this interesting project.

 Belsat TV chose OCTOPUS for their newsroom system
About 30 journalists use OCTOPUS 5, to browse wires and write their stories in Belsat TV, Warsaw. OCTOPUS has been smoothly integrated with their technology partners Gallery Sienna automation and Autocue teleprompters. While latest version of MOS protocol is used to integrate with automation and prompting solution, OCTOPUS CGSender and CII interface connect newsroom system with Inscriber graphics system. System integration was lead by Apple Poland.

 CT Ostrava closer to Prague
Czech TV Ostrava, a regional branch of the state Czech TV has successfully implemented OCTOPUS Newsroom System. Using transfer feature, wires and stories between Ostrava and Prague headquarters are seamlessly shared. Tighter interconnection between Prague and Ostrava enables direct information exchange. Contributions from Ostrava can now be easier reviewed by Prague and brought on air quicker and more efficiently.

 B.A.G.’s News24 launched with OCTOPUS on board
News 24, a brand-new 24/7 news channel broadcasting from Delhi, India has recently launched. OCTOPUS in News24 is ready to support routine and emergency newsroom operations for 80 users simultaneously. Incoming wires, RSS and SMS feeds, tight integration with Aveco Astra and lowres browsing capability provided by OCTOPUS Video Twister offer an advanced platform for day-to day newsroom requirements. Integration with Vizrt’s Content Pilot allows journalists to prepare graphics on their desktops. To bring stories to presenter’s desk, MOS connected Autoscript teleprompter is used.
