GUI skins - look and feel of OCTOPUS GUI is changeable. Each user defines its own skin. Or use one of the predifined ones
Split screens - screen can be splitted up to 6 windows. Each of them with different section open
Custom user layouts - screen layout can be saved including the options opened for later use
Multilingual - OCTOPUS is fully multilingual. In multiethnic environment, each user has a different GUI localization based on his/her login name

Double column scripting - unlike other newsroom systems OCTOPUS uses classic double column scripts.
Script formating - script supports text formating. Bold, italic underline. Colors. Special tags and commands.
Story containers - stories are organized in containers. Somethling like folders in operating system. Sortable, searchable and filterable.
Planning/assignment diary - calendar-based folders keep planning and/or assignments organized in the most natural way.
Timed and floating rundowns - rundows are either fixed in time or floating. These are reused anytime.
Rundown scheduler - rundows are automaticaly created by scheduler using templates.
Receiving wires, emails, faxes, RSS - OCTOPUS receives, categories and is able to search wide variaty of information from various sources
Message notifications - users are notified about any incoming piece of information that comes to OCTOPUS.
User to user messaging - users send messages to other users or groups.
Contact database - contacts are stored in the shared database. Contacts are either public or private
Guest management - all the research is kept in pre-interviews file and guest bookings are stored and back-tracked with interviews.
Lowres browsing - any piece of video or audio material has a lowres version users can browse and review at their OCTOPUS clients without any special hardware
Live video streaming - live video (agency feeds, own or other channels) are streamed live to each OCTOPUS client. This video can be watched while writing the script, making rundown or searching wires
Extended search - OCTOPUS content search allows very quick, simple or very complicated search queries. Search for year old story about pope, that was longer than 1 minute, aired in evenning news and done by particular reporter - easy.
System
MOS support - OCTOPUS supports lattest MOS protocol specification. We are compliant with MOS 2.6, 2.8 and 2.8.1. Profiles 0,1,2,3,4,5,6. More about MOS and our partners in Partner section ODKAZ
CG control - any CG with CII or Aston protocol can be control directly from OCTOPUS. The lower thirds and other supers do not need to be retyped anymore.
User rights - user rights allow to setup access to wires, media, stories rundowns and other objects.
Only client is Web browser - OCTOPUS only client is Internet Explorer. It bring the advantage of easy remote access and zero administration at client PCs.
Unicode support - OCTOPUS is fully unicode system. There are no problems with extended character sets like Chinese, Thai, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu and others. Several languages can be mixed in scripts and other texts.
Enterprise
Fully redundant - OCTOPUS servers can be stup in mirror for bigger redundancy
Multiple locations - when TV station is spreadign over more locations OCTOPUS can connect all these places and behave still as one system.
Information interchange - multiple OCTOPUS installations can exchange stories and rundowns.
Secure remote access - remote clients (online and offline) use secure connection over SSL and using certificates
