Octopus Newsroom, a global developer of Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS), is pleased to announce Midco Sports as a new customer in the USA. Head-quartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Midco is a regional cable provider, providing a triple play service of cable television, internet andphone service as well as its own broadcasting content. This includes localized sports programming and sports related news to more than 200 communities serving an area that covers over 1.2 million people.

To effectively manage both sports and sports related news programming operations, Octopus X provides an operational platform that can be used by both the whole sports team and sports journalists to effectively manage the broadcasting operations from creation to output, including planning and task assignment, submission of stories, automatic creation of rundowns and scheduling, output to social media, Octopus journalist apps as well as creation, researching and archiving of stories.

Installed in April 2021, Midco Sports selected Octopus X to meet all of its operational requirements for its sports teams, ensuring a sleek and collaborative workflow that could integrate into their existing environment that includes a Chyron graphics system and QMaster autocue system.

“Midco Sports is excited to use Octopus X to increase our efficiency and throughput, as we continue to elevate productions for the sports enthusiasts in our region,” said VP of Midco Sports Mark Powell.

Though only recently installed, feedback is positive in terms of improved productivity as the entire Midco Sports team has gone through a series of introductions and training provided by Octopus Newsroom. The team from Octopus Newsroom managed the complete installation from consultancy, design, through to implementation and testing but with an additional challenge. The whole project was successfully implemented remotely due to the issues of the global pandemic.
