Amsterdam, September 2026 — Honoured didn’t quite cover it.

Octopus Newsroom was proud to have been invited by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, to participate in a landmark panel discussion at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, bringing together senior government representatives and global broadcast and media industry leaders to discuss the opportunities shaping the future of India’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

On Sunday, 13 September, Miro Rusko, Managing Director APAC at Octopus Newsroom, took the stage at the Showcase Theatre for the panel “Broadcasting’s Next Billion: Bringing Global Leaders Together at WAVES 2027.”

The session brought together global industry leaders and senior representatives from the Government of India to explore the opportunities presented by the next billion media consumers and build momentum towards WAVES 2027 in Mumbai.

Bringing global and Indian perspectives together

Miro shared the stage with an impressive line-up of industry and government leaders:

  • H.E. Kumar Tuhin, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands
  • Elisabetta Cartoni, CEO, Cartoni SpA
  • Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Broadcasting & Administration), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India
  • Mr. Sunil, President (E), Broadcast Engineering Society India & Additional DG(R), Prasar Bharati India

India is one of the world’s fastest-growing media and entertainment markets, and the panel provided an opportunity to discuss the opportunities and developments shaping its future.

For Octopus Newsroom, the event was particularly meaningful as it gave us an opportunity to share our experience of news production in the Indian market and contribute our perspective on how technology can support broadcasters and news organisations as audiences, platforms and production workflows continue to evolve.

A closer look at India’s broadcast future

IBC 2026 provided a unique meeting point for the global broadcast and media community, and the panel showcased the momentum building across India’s broadcast and media & entertainment industry.

The discussions covered areas ranging from next-generation broadcast engineering to the creative economy, highlighting the importance of collaboration between technology providers, broadcasters, industry organisations and government.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Sonia Prashar for organising the panel and bringing together such an impressive group of industry and government leaders. We greatly appreciated the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this important conversation.

From Amsterdam to Mumbai

The energy and ideas from Amsterdam carried forward into the next chapter: A.B.I.S. in Mumbai, which took place from 22–24 October 2026.

For Octopus Newsroom, participating in the IBC panel was an important opportunity to connect with leaders shaping the future of broadcasting in India and to continue building relationships across the country’s growing media and entertainment ecosystem.

We were grateful to everyone who took the time to connect, exchange ideas and explore how we could contribute to the continued growth of the industry.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Amsterdam. Let’s meet soon in Mumbai. Stop by our booth F10 to see the latest Octopus innovations in action.
