Day 3 at IBC 2026 is a wrap!

Today, we stopped by some of our amazing partners’ booths to say hello, catch up, and share some of our latest news.

First up in our video series: Vizrt – our integration partner for more than a decade. We caught up with Matthew Williams, Senior Product Manager at Viz Mosart, to chat about our long-standing collaboration, what we learned from redesigning the Octopus & Viz Mosart workflow for RTL Deutschland, and what broadcasters should keep in mind when modernizing their operations.

And, of course, we had to ask the really important question… What music style best captures the Octopus & Vizrt partnership?

Watch the interview or read the edited Q&A below. Recorded 13 September 2026 at IBC, RAI Amsterdam.

Interview highlights:

What did Vizrt show at IBC 2026?

Matthew Williams, Vizrt: What we’re showing here is predominantly our new AI platform: using AI at every part of our production process, including within Viz Mosart, right at the point of controlling the studio.

How does Octopus integrate with Viz Mosart?

Natali Bannykh, Octopus Newsroom: We’ve been integration partners with Vizrt for more than 10 years. This year we redesigned how Viz Mosart and our news production system, Octopus, work together, and it’s made things much smoother between studio automation and newsroom workflows.

How should broadcasters approach modernizing their newsroom and studio workflows?

Matthew Williams, Vizrt: Storytellers want to get stories on air fast. They don’t want to think about the technicalities of how that actually happens. They work in newsroom systems like Octopus day to day, and that’s where they want to get things to air, confident it will flow through to their on-air control system. Closing that gap is how broadcasters will do more, more quickly.

How can AI catch errors in a news rundown before it goes to air?

Natali Bannykh, Octopus Newsroom: At IBC we’re introducing Octopus 13, built around agentic workflows powered by Octopus MCP server. What’s the one thing our followers shouldn’t miss at your booth?

Matthew Williams, Vizrt: We’re showing agentic AI in every part of the production workflow, from designing graphics with an AI design agent to playing out the show with Viz Mosart. We also have an AI-enabled rundown checker. When you load a rundown, it checks the templates, the presentation, details in the script and spellings in lower-third graphics. Those AI agents quickly identify any issues and present them to the operational teams, so they can correct them before they go to air.

Last question: what music would play on an Octopus–Vizrt canal boat trip?

Matthew Williams, Vizrt: A duet: one sings very clearly, and the other responds, and together they tell a lovely story. We’re really happy about the new integrations you’ve been able to do this year. It makes for a harmonious style of music.
