RTL Deutschland has reached a major milestone in its newsroom transformation with Octopus, successfully bringing the national news channel ntv live on the new platform as part of the replacement of its legacy NC Power system.
The project is one of the most technically sophisticated implementations in Octopus Newsroom’s history. It spans multiple regional news operations as well as ntv, with the long-term goal of providing a unified production environment while preserving the unique workflows and device configurations used across RTL’s different locations.

A Complex Migration from Legacy Systems
RTL Deutschland had relied on NC Power for its newsroom operations for many years. As the broadcaster continues to modernize its production environment, the objective is to implement a future-ready platform capable of supporting diverse regional workflows, advanced automation, and integration with existing systems.
As of May 2026, a major project milestone has been reached with ntv, and just a few days later, the new morning show “Deutschland Am Morgen” from ntv and RTL successfully went live with Octopus Newsroom. Further rollout and integration work across the broader RTL Deutschland environment is continuing.
Rebuilding the Mosart Integration from the Ground Up
One of the most demanding aspects of the project has been the complete redesign of RTL Deutschland’s integration with Mosart automation.
The broadcaster’s previous automation workflow relied on a legacy third-party integration. To replace it, an entirely new interface was developed, with key logic rebuilt directly within Octopus story templates.
This advanced integration provides a more streamlined and reliable connection between editorial workflows and studio automation, helping production teams prepare and execute rundowns with greater efficiency.
Supporting Diverse Regional Workflows
RTL Deutschland operates numerous regional newsrooms, each with its own production setup and technical requirements. Some locations use different studio devices and workflows.
The Octopus implementation has been designed to accommodate these varied requirements through flexible configuration and integration planning. At the same time, the centralized Octopus core software and servers are hosted in Cologne, providing a robust and scalable foundation for connected news operations.
Strong Partnership with LOGIC Media Solutions
The implementation is being delivered in close cooperation with LOGIC Media Solutions, which serves as project manager, reseller, training provider, and primary point of contact for RTL Deutschland.
Together, the teams have conducted advanced technical workshops and coordinated the integration of complex third-party systems to support the successful ntv go-live and the ongoing rollout.
A Unified Newsroom for the Future
By replacing NC Power with Octopus, RTL Deutschland is standardizing its editorial workflows on a modern, story-centric platform designed to adapt to the broadcaster’s evolving needs.
The project demonstrates how Octopus can support complex broadcast environments, combining advanced automation, flexible workflows, and phased integration work in one powerful system.
For RTL Deutschland, the successful ntv launch marks an important step toward a connected and scalable newsroom infrastructure that will continue to evolve across national and regional operations.
