Octopus Newsroom has successfully completed two major newsroom projects, helping broadcasters in Latin America and Africa modernize their editorial workflows and move away from legacy systems.

One deployment was completed for a leading broadcaster in Latin America, while the second went live at Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), the national public broadcaster of Cameroon, in close cooperation with StudioTech.

Together, these projects demonstrate how Octopus adapts to different newsroom environments, integrates with existing broadcast infrastructure, and supports journalists with intuitive tools designed for fast and efficient news production.

Modernizing a Leading Broadcaster in Latin America

Octopus Newsroom has gone live at one of Latin America’s top broadcasters. Although the customer has chosen to remain confidential, the project represents one of the region’s most significant newsroom system upgrades.

Replacing a Legacy iNEWS Environment

The broadcaster was looking for a modern alternative to its aging Avid iNEWS system. Octopus was selected for its flexibility, user-friendly interface, and ability to integrate seamlessly with the broadcaster’s existing production technology.

Fully Connected Newsroom Workflows

Using the MOS protocol, Octopus was integrated with the broadcaster’s teleprompter, media asset management system, playout, and graphics tools. This allows editorial teams to work from a single platform while ensuring that story updates are reflected immediately across the production chain.

In addition to core newsroom workflows, the deployment included:

  • Integrated wire ingest for receiving and managing agency feeds directly in Octopus
  • Social media publishing from within the newsroom system
  • Customized planning workflows tailored to the broadcaster’s editorial processes

Smooth Transition for More Than 130 Users

The project included extensive on-site training for over 130 journalists, producers, editors, and technical staff. Multiple rehearsal sessions helped the team test workflows in real production scenarios, ensuring a smooth and confident transition to the new system.

CRTV Goes On-Air with Octopus Newsroom

Cameroon Radio Television has officially gone on-air with Octopus Newsroom, marking an important milestone in the broadcaster’s modernization efforts.

Delivered in partnership with StudioTech, the project supports both television and radio production, giving CRTV a unified newsroom platform across its operations.

Supporting Television and Radio in One System

Octopus was integrated with Autoscript teleprompters and Axel Technology playout systems, creating a streamlined workflow from story creation to on-air delivery.

By using one system for both TV and radio, CRTV can standardize workflows, improve collaboration, and simplify newsroom management.

Mobile Tools for Field Journalists

The installation includes 25 concurrent desktop licenses and 30 mobile licenses, enabling reporters to work directly from the field using the Octopus Journalist App. Journalists can create stories, update rundowns, and contribute to breaking news coverage from anywhere.

Delivered with Trusted Local Partners

The CRTV project was delivered in close cooperation with StudioTech, whose expertise in broadcast integration played a key role in the successful deployment.

Working with experienced regional partners is an important part of how Octopus delivers projects around the world, ensuring each installation is tailored to local requirements and supported by trusted experts.

Helping Newsrooms Move Forward

“These projects show how Octopus adapts to very different newsroom environments,” said an Octopus Newsroom representative. “Whether supporting a large commercial broadcaster in Latin America or a national public broadcaster in Africa, our goal is always the same: to provide journalists with modern, intuitive tools that help them work faster, collaborate better, and focus on the stories that matter most.” Gianluca Bertuzzi, Sales Manager Africa & Latin America at Octopus Newsroom
