See Octopus 8, the world’s most efficient newsroom system

We are back again! Over the past year, we have consolidated Octopus 8 as the world’s leading broadcast newsroom system. Hundreds of  Octopus mobile app licenses have been delivered within a year of introduction. Many of these are being used on site by Octopus customers covering this summer’s sports spectacular in Rio de Janeiro.

At IBC this year, Octopus Newsroom will demonstrate multiple end-to-end news production workflows so match any scale of operation from a simple cost-effective setup to a powerful and highly versatile fully-automated system.

Integrations to be seen at our stand.

Integrated with the Octopus 8 Newsroom Computer System are Octopus Mobile clients plus ingest, graphics and playout modules from ToolsOnAir Broadcast and Teleprompter from Autoscript. This end-to-end solution is suitable for smaller broadcasters looking for a simple yet powerful and reliable solution for their daily news production. The system can be complemented by Octopus NLE plug-in clients running alongside Adobe Premiere CS7.

The Octopus 8 Newsroom Computer System will be demonstrated fully integrated seamlessly with Vizrt Viz One MAM and Content Pilot, using the MOS protocol and the new HTML5 plugins from Vizrt. The whole setup will be controlled by Viz Mosart Automation, showing how a modern fully automated newsroom can be deployed on current IT platforms.

We will additionally demonstrate how Octopus 8 can fit into an Avid environment using the Traco Media Bridge.

The latest Octopus 8 system will also be exhibited within a complete news production workflow by Octopus technology partners including Aveco, Grass Valley, Snell Advanced Media and Sony.

Some of the recent improvements include:

  •    Publishing social media posts directly from the rundown
  •    Mobile app for iOS and Android™
  •    Support for ActiveX and HTML5 plugins
  •    Flexible web CMS integration
  •    Support for topic centric workflow
  •    Social media integration with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
